The Pipeline Masters has kicked off and you know how I can tell, is because there is so much traffic. Everyone is in town the line up’s are crowded. Everywhere you go takes twice as long to get there. So plan to come out for a day and enjoy the many things to do in Haleiwa. Putting that aside, there are 3 guys in the running for a 2014 world title this year and the showdown is at the famous Banzai Pipeline… Kelly Slater, Gabriel Mendia and Mick Fanning. Surfline wrote a good article on the subject. These three have been battling it like seasoned warriors all year long.

Gabriel Mendia has got a lot of people in his corner coming out of the wood works. The way you can tell is when you go to F oodland ( aka “Food Land Disco”) on the North Shore and everyone is speaking Brazilian (haha, I know… Portuguese). Every surf spot is over packed and the swells have been more or less, raging storm surf. Winter is here and there’s finally a chill is in the air . I am finally wearing jeans and jumpers.
