Before every surf, I do my best to clear my head. A zenful (clear) mind in the surf can be paramount to keeping you safe and having fun. The irony is, no matter how many times I attempt to block out the static of life when I surf, the voice in my head always bothers me, asking me, “What else needs to be done in your life? What bill needs to get paid? And heaven only knows, what every other blah blah blah thought will pop into my head when I’m trying to have my safe and tranquil moment. This happens especially when it’s small or inconsistent in between sets.

Funny thing here is, the moment I see a rainbow my mind clears and I am just in awe of its amazing beauty. This is how rainbows work for me. They help me get back to my peace of mind.
The other day I was surfing and that same crappy mind set was creeping into my head, “Get work done! Don’t bother enjoying the waves. It’s too small anyway! Work, Work! It’s small surf… think about everything else you could be taking care of?”.
Then out of the heavens it beamed down. It showed itself without warning and appeared contrary to my understanding, considering there was barely a cloud in the sky.
It went something like this.
First off, this rainbow appeared right over the houses in the community that I was lining up with. So unless you were in the ocean and out to sea a little, it would have been really difficult to see. This gave the moment a feel as if this beautiful bow had been sent just for me. The colors were all so vibrant. It was absolutely breath taking! Especially the purple band of color… it was in a league of its own.
Country living rainbow time
All of a sudden; from my head to my toes, I was bursting with stoke! This blessed gift from above was glowing with such radiance that I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. There was even more bewilderment when another rainbow appeared directly under the one I was ogling over. Talk about a mind eraser! Double rainbow , double whammy! Thinking has passed, time to surf at last.
So once again, this is how rainbows work … or at least for me. They help me to question less, why I decide to do what I do. This is because life should be the best adventure and the best ever adventures never go planned. So get out of your comfort zone. Go to the beach, go for a snorkel, go for a long, over due surf or go for a hike. What ever you do; get out of your house and go on a little adventure. Allow yourself to feel alive. For all who truly seek with open eyes and with an empty mind, will undoubtedly find that wonderful pot-of-gold at the end of every rainbow.
This is how rainbows work for me, and I thank God every day for His many blessed covenants of remarkable beauty that he puts on display for all of us human folk to enjoy.
Now, with that being said… What are you waiting for? Go find your peace of rainbow as soon as possible! Your soul will most definitely thank you for it.
