Let’s face it. No matter how much we are living in delusion, we can’t deny that whatever we do these days, we find it harder and harder to be able to avoid the heavy duty traffic that has been steadily developing here in our lovely islands. Hawaii has become notoriously infamous nation wide for its ever so congesting, limited road ways. This rings particularly true for the north shore of Oahu, also now known as the seven mile miracle of traffic. Now a days, out here in the country, it’s near impossible to avoid some kind of traffic of sorts. Seriously, Forbes Magazine voted Hawaii 2nd worst in the united states for traffic.
Bottom line is, where ever you live in this little world, you are more then likely dealing with your own horrific version of traffic. I know you don’t want to hear about a bunch of spoiled, Hawaii people complaining about a little traffic and in a sense it’s true… even when you are stuck in traffic hear, you are still surrounded by such beautiful scenery to be mesmerized with. Still once again, any where you go, traffic is traffic and traffic sucks. Even more so when your going on your much needed and much overdue vacation to Hawaii. I mean, that’s why you’re going on vacation any way, right? To get away from all that hustle and bustle of life’s every day traffic.

They are some useful and helpful traffic tips that can make your vacation/stay so much better and safer for you, and in return, keep the locals stoked on you visiting in their islands.
Keep in mind, nothing is full proof no matter how much you plan, so remember to also be flexible and be able to go with the flow.

As of right now, we are all trying to co-exist with dysfunctionality of the project.
** The Apps known as waze and google maps show traffic jams and congestions. Also waze will tell you where some police are hiding.
** Be courteous and safe towards other drivers. Don’t ever drive at a snails pace. Think about all the other people not on vacation just trying to pick up kids from school or on their way to or from work.
** Plan where you want to go and use maps. It’s pretty easy to drive around the Island once you are out of the city.
** Avoid peak hour work traffic and avoid pick-up times for kids from school.
Timing is everything in Hawaii. To avoid a headache, go get something to eat near by to where you’re stuck. In the Hawaiian islands, really good food is always near by. Eating and finishing out your sight seeing engagement during peak hour is a great way to let traffic sub side, thus making your vacation/journey out to the north shore a pleasant one and you kill a bunch of birds with one stone. Who knows what fun and random activity you might miss out on if you just fight it and sit in that horrible grid lock. You might miss out on a part of your Hawaii experience that you would never have come across if you hadn’t stayed.

Going into Waikiki/Honolulu from the North shore: Times to avoid are between 6:30AM and 9:30AM
** If you have 3 people or more in the vehicle then you can use the zipper lane. If there is 2 or more then you can use the car pool lane. Both can come in very handy.

** If you want to take a picture, always indicate, and pull over with plenty of room on the side of the road. Stop and and get out of the car to take a photo. PLEASE DO NOT DO IT FROM THE CAR! It’s extremely dangerous and it’s one of the major causes to why are traffic gets so backed up.
