The Christmas parade in Haleiwa was an absolute blast. Judging by the happy faces in the crowd, it appeared to be absolutely enjoyable for the masses of spectators that showed up. Even more so, judging by my own inner feelings, it was nothing but fun, fun, fun for the performers alike. The Team at Oahu Surfing Experience would like to thank the volunteers, local businesses, pirates, mermaids, elves, Santa’s, residents, students, performers, the community at large and of course, the most symbolic character of the Christmas spirit of all, the real life representation of the baby Jesus. Everyone humbly and harmoniously came together to make the 16th annual 2016 Holiday Christmas parade in Haleiwa a huge success.
I think it’s fair to say, that the quick hour of entertainment that took place on December 9th Friday 2016 from 6pm to 7pm was a safe and absolutely memorable one. The theme was, “Oceans of Giving”.
As I’ve mentioned before, this annual Christmas parade in Haleiwa can not happen without the talented performers, but more importantly the area residents who are the families with children who come out each and every year to experience and share in this amazing christmas cheer and tradition. This spirited Christmas event featured 500 marchers, 45 vehicles, 5 floats and 3 bands. Just in case you missed it, be ready for next year, because a year seems to fly by these days. The Christmas parade in Haleiwa starts at Weed Circle, proceeds down Kamehameha Highway through Haleiwa town and ends at Haleiwa Beach Park.
This annual event boasted record numbers compared to the previous years and appears to be steadily getting larger every year. This event is sponsored by North Shore Community Chamber of Commerce. It is with the complete support and involvement of the entire community which ensures this annual event, will keep continuing to put smiles on the faces of the wonderful families watching the bands, performers and the floats rolling by.

A special thanks goes out to the float known as the OahuSurfingExperience that had on board the best and most talented band in the land. Our float would not be such an amazing attraction if it wasn’t for the music professionals that rocked the night! A great BIG Mahalo nui loa to Kurtis Beck on lead guitar and vocals, …. on saxophone, Larry McElheney on bass and …. on drums! You guys were amazing and literally ROCKED the BOAT!!! Oh, and yes, it would be a grave travesty if i didn’t give a great big thank you to our fearless Captain, pirate and most excellent navigator Ryan Taylor, who managed to steer us through some pretty shallow waters. Hehehe or should I say hohoho.
Until next season, Merry Christmas and a great, big Happy New Year from the team at OahuSurfingExperience. \m/
